Post by Jun » 2005-07-14 13:01

Consider the extraordinary shot where Belle waits at the dining table in the castle for the Beast's first entrance. He appears behind her and approaches silently. She senses his presence, and begins to react in a way that some viewers have described as fright, although it is clearly orgasmic. Before she has even seen him, she is aroused to her very depths, and a few seconds later, as she tells him she cannot marry--a Beast!--she toys with a knife that is more than a knife.

My story would concern itself mainly with the unconscious obstinancy with which women pursue the same typel of men and expose the naitvete of the old fairly tales that would have us believe that this type reaches its ideal in conventional good looks. My aim would be to make the Beast so human, so sympathetic, so superior to men, that his transformation into Prince Charming would come as a terrible blow to Beauty, condemning her to a humdrum marriage and future that I summed up in that last sentence of all fairy tales. Cocteau的确很爱他的leading man Jean Marais.
